Help for Pasco's Hungry | March 30, C.T. Bowen column

C.T. Bowen's column regarding "Help for Pasco's Hungry" is much appreciated.

Pasco County has approximately 500,000 residents, about 28 percent of them being senior citizens. Many of these seniors are also known as the "hidden hungry" because they are home-bound and no one ever sees them. More than 16 percent of Pasco senior citizens do not know where their next meal will come from.

"Feeding Pasco's Elderly" is one of the non-profit charitable organizations that helps to raise tax-deductible donations to provide many of these needy elderly individuals throughout Pasco County nutritious meals every week. As Mr. Bowen said, this organization was formed in 2004 to supplement the elderly nutrition program in the face of decreasing government support.

Commissioner Mike Wells is the president, Senator Mike Fasano is the vice president and Richard Hayes of Digital Lightbridge is the treasurer for the organization. All of us on the board not only raise funds, but also personally donate money to assist Pasco County elderly nutrition program. Our administration cost is next to nothing.

If you can help in any way (time, treasure or talent) please visit www.feedingpasco.com or send a check to Feeding Pasco's Elderly, 11902 Little Road, New Port Richey, FL 34654. Help is needed throughout the year, not just over the holidays.

May God bless your caring heart.
